Domain Names

< 1 min read

Think of a domain name as a house address on the Internet. It’s the unique name that identifies a website, making it easy for people to find and visit.

Domain names are like physical addresses; they have a particular way of being structured. They usually have two parts: the second-level domain (SLD) and the top-level domain (TLD). For example, in “example.com”:

“example” is the second-level domain

“.com” is the top-level domain

Domain names are obtained through domain registrars, and each domain name is unique, meaning that there cannot be two websites that share the same domain name. They are an important part of how we surf the immense universe of the Internet.
